Application for rooms
A person seeking to be housed by the YWCA Community Housing must complete an application for Community Housing with the Department of Housing. Assistance can be provided with the completion of the forms.
Applicants are allocated housing on the basis of priority and suitability to the style of housing on offer at the YWCA.
Prospective tenants must be capable of independent living as no support is available on site. Referral agencies are asked to confirmation in writing of on going support before tenants are housed. Agencies will also be asked to complete a formal agreement between themselves and the YWCA for the ongoing support.
Tenancy Agreement
A standard Tenancy Agreement is to be signed by each tenant before they can take up residence.
Rules
YWCA House rules have been written to give all tenants equal rights in peace, privacy and access to the common areas. The House Rules form part of the Tenancy Agreement and are to be signed by each tenant.
Rent
Rent is based on the amount of income a tenant receives and is assessed on Department of Housing guidelines. An income statement from Employers and/or Centrelink will be required to calculate the rent payable by each tenant. Upon signing a Centrelink Consent Form, the YWCA will be able to download this information for the prospective tenants for quick and easy assessment of income and calculation of rent payable.
The Centrepay service available through Centrelink will be available for the payment of rent. The use of this facility can make it easy for tenants to keep up to date with their rents thus ensuring that their tenancy is kept secure.
