The YWCA Downs & South West QLD. Inc. is a women’s membership organisation and community services provider.  We are part of an Australia wide and global woman’s organisation leading social and economic change in 125 countries.

The vision of the YWCA Downs & South West Qld. Inc. is of a fully inclusive world where justice, peace, health, human dignity, freedom and care for the environment are promoted and sustained through women’s leadership.

We put our vision and values into action by providing community programs and services which empower our members and participants to create fulfilling and productive lives

The YWCA Downs & South West QLD. Inc. community services involve all members of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, age or religion, these services include:

• Disability Support Services –  Life style support services designed to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to participate fully in the community.  
• Community Housing – Housing for low and moderate income households providing a long term home that is safe, secure and affordable.  
• Training and Employment – Education, training and employment services designed to provide access to knowledge, skills and economic participation for people who may have difficulties accessing services through mainstream institutions.
• Health and Wellbeing Services -  Programs designed to assist in the recovery from illness such as Encore (YWCA Breast Cancer Recovery Program). Also services aimed at improving young peoples understanding of issues including: body image, drug and alcohol abuse and protective behaviours.
• Community Development Work – developing opportunities for people in disadvantaged circumstances to improve their lives, providing opportunities for leadership with a focus on women and young people, and working with the broader community to correct injustices and provide equitable community access for all.

The YWCA is funded by its members, recurrent and non recurrent government grants, fundraising and social enterprises. The Association is a not for profit non government entity with public benevolent institution status.
