The YWCA in Toowoomba provides accommodation for women with a view to assisting and empowering them to transition towards independence.  This programme is based on a very successful program of the YWCA in Fort Worth, Texas.

Women are housed in a safe, secure environment. Each has a room of their own with independent food and utensil storage. The kitchen, lounge and bathrooms are shared facilities.

The My Own Place Program is a bridge to successful independence for women. A program co-ordinator assists the participants to determine immediate and long-term needs, work together to ensure the successful accomplishment of these long and short term goals leading to self-sufficiency.

Participants receive basic life skills training and support to access other community programs and services.
